Ahead of the upcoming National Day and Malaysia Day, there seems to be a waning enthusiasm in flying the Jalur Gemilang.

Alarmed at this discouraging trend, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek announced that the government may require all premises and public or private buildings to fly the Jalur Gemilang during Merdeka-month.

Ahmad Shabery reasoned that there were many, especially owners of private premises, who are insensitive to the importance of expressing appreciation and love for the country.
