A man believed to be involved in the incident resulting in six cars to be destroyed in a fire at a parking lot near the Taman Jaya LRT station on Monday is remanded for four days.

Petaling Jaya District chief of police, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the remand order was obtained on Tuesday morning.

Members of the public are requested to contact the nearest police station should they have any information regarding the incident to aid in the investigation.

The suspect was arrested at 11pm on Monday near the location of the incident.

Police also seized a Yamaha Ego motorcycle used by the suspect.

A car was set ablaze at the parking lot near Taman Jaya on Monday, resulting in the fire spreading to six other nearby cars.

The incident involved a Toyota Vios and Proton Wira which were fully destroyed in the fire while a Suzuki Swift had 80 per cent of burns.

Initial investigations showed that a motorcyclist threw a bottle containing petrol towards the back seat of a car parked at the parking lot causing several other cars to catch fire.

A woman and a man both in their 20s who were in the car however managed to escape.
