KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's challenge at the Squash on Fire Open 2021 in Washington, came to an end early today, as none of the three national players in the quarterfinals advanced to the last four stage.

Addeen Idrakie, who staged a commanding performance against the hosts' Faraz Khan and Shahjahan Khan in the previous round, however, had to surrender to the world number 18 and tournament's top seed, James Willstrop.

The 27-year-old Addeen, ranked 91st in the world, lost 2-11, 6-11, 7-11 to the Englishman in 33-minute battle, according to the Professional Squash Association world tour website www.psaworldtour.com.

The tournament's fifth seed Ivan Yuen was another casualty, as he gave a walkover in the third set, having trail 11-7, 13-11 to Japanese player Ryosei Kobayashi in the first two sets.

The Japanese is set to face Willstrop in the clash for the final, today.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles category, Low Wee Wern was edged by the tournament's fourth seed Sabrina Sobhy of the United States 7-11, 12-10, 10-12, 7-11 in 46 minutes.

Sabrina is set to face Georgina Kennedy of England in the semi-finals.

Malaysia's other contenders S. Sivasangari, Rachel Arnold, Wen Li Lai, and Mohd Syafiq Kamal all has bowed out earlier.
