A stinking smell emanating from a septic tank led police to a gruesome find at a bungalow in Jalan Seri Murni 11, Bukit Damansara, here today.

Brickfields police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said at about 6.30pm, the mutilated body of a woman, believed to be an Indonesian, minus her head, hands and legs, was found in the septic tank.

The woman, believed to have been murdered, could have been left inside the septic tank for about two to three weeks.

"We received a report from residents living nearby that a bad odour was emanating from the bungalow. Upon inspection, police found the mutilated body of a woman, believed to have been murdered," he told Bernama when contacted, here on Thursday.

Muhammad Azlee said following the gruesome find, police have detained eight men, all Bangladeshis, to assist investigations because police have yet to establish the motive for the murder.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Azizan Ismail said six firemen and a fire engine from Sri Hartamas was deployed to the scene.

"At 9.37pm, the water was pumped out and the mutilated body of a woman was found. The body was later handed over to the police for investigations," said Azizan in a statement, here last night.
