SHAH ALAM: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) will launch the MyPolyCC Premier Cooperative (MyPolyCC) in an effort to help alumni, students of polytechnics and community colleges venture into entrepreneurship.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mansor Othman said the establishment of the special cooperative, which would involve 36 polytechnics and 104 community colleges nationwide, would be launched by next month.

He said MyPolyCC, which is awaiting the registration approval process from the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM), was established to make the cooperative a platform for alumni and students from the institutions to market their innovative products at a higher level.

“In polytechnics and community colleges there are many good products produced by students but the outside community is not aware of this because they are not marketed well. With this platform, we can release new products from campus directly to the industries and society.

“As such, we want to create a special cooperative that will be an intermediary for all industry players in the country," he said at a press conference after officiating the pre-launch event of Universiti Teknologi Mara’s Unicorn Scholar Programme (UiTM USP) here yesterday.

On the UiTM USP programme, he said the initiative coincided with the MOHE's continuous efforts in continuing to strengthen the entrepreneurship agenda at the university level.

Earlier, Rahmat in his speech said the elite programme was specially designed to enhance entrepreneurial competencies, provide employment and business opportunities among UiTM students.
