KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees in four states, namely Selangor, Johor, Kelantan and Melaka, was reported to have decreased as of 9.30 pm compared to yesterday afternoon.

In SELANGOR, the Social Welfare Department's InfoBencana website showed that the number of flood victims decreased yesterday evening to 129 compared to 187 in the afternoon.

Three relief centres are still open, namely at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jeram in Kuala Selangor as well as Dewan Sri Nakhoda and Dewan Simpang 5 in Sabak Bernam.

In JOHOR, the number of evacuees in three districts (Tangkak, Kluang and Segamat) which were hit by flash floods, dropped slightly, to 327 as at 8 pm from 330 yesterday afternoon.

District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD), in a statement said that the evacuees were being accommodated at five relief centres at Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak (39), Dewan Komuniti Tasek, Segamat (14) and Dewan Utama Kampung Ithnin Maarof in Kluang (32).

"Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang 5 Darat and Sekolah Agama Simpang 5 Darat, Tangkak are housing the highest number of evacuees, 134 and 108 people respectively," it said, adding that they were forced to remain at the centres because of the stagnant floodwaters.

In KELANTAN, according to JKM's InfoBencana website, the number of flood victims continued to decrease to 1,677 from 557 families as at 8 pm from 1,925 from 647 families in the afternoon.

The are being housed at SK Tok Deh, SK Kubang Kual, PPS Putat Tujoh, SK Sri Kiambang, Masjid Mukim Padang Licin, SK Gual Periok and SK Gual Tinggi in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas.

In MELAKA, the number of flood evacuees in Alor Gajah dropped to 37 from 12 families as at 8 pm from 48 (13 families) as at 4 pm.

State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the evacuees, from Kampung Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai, Kampung Pulau, Kampung Belimbing, Pengkalan and Kampung Panchor, were being housed at State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee Office (Japerun) hall in Durian Tunggal.

In SARAWAK, State Disaster Management Committee said a total of 19 evacuees from seven families from Rh Lawai Kampung Selindung in Limbang were being housed at Dewan Masyarakat Medamit, which was opened at 5 pm.

In PERAK, the number of evacuees continued to rise with 466 from 140 families being housed at six relief centres, as at 8 pm.

The number of evacuees had risen from the 436 from 127 families yesterday afternoon and one relief centre was opened yesterday in Larut Matang and Selama district at Kampung Padang Serai Dalam.

Manjung district continues to record an increase in the number of evacuees, especially at relief centre at Surau Sekolah Agama Rakyat Imam Syafie Batu Hampar Beruas (143 from 46 families), followed by Perak Tengah district where 118 people are being accommodated at Dewan SMK Layang-Layang Kiri.
