Armed with 1.59 million arrest warrants, the police will launch 'Ops Warta' on May 5 to track down those with outstanding traffic summonses and traffic offences.

Bukit Aman traffic police chief, Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff said the arrest warrants were issued by the court to traffic offenders who failed to turn up in court.

He said out of the 1.59 million arrest warrants issued, some were for traffic offenders who had also failed to settle their summonses from 1990.

"I am giving a warning and offering all traffic offenders a second chance within two weeks to check their status and settle their summonses.

"The public can check their summonses status at the nearest traffic police stations nationwide," he told a press conference here today.

Mohd Fuad also urged traffic offenders with outstanding summonses and arrest warrants to meet him or the state traffic police chief for assistance.
