A paraglider is feared to have drowned near Taman Buaya, off Pulau Kerengga Marang, late this evening, said Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli.

He said a fisherman spotted the paraglider plunging into the sea about two kilometres from the beach.

"He then radioed in a report to the marine authorities and acting on the report Fire and Rescue Department, Police and Civil Defence Force personnel immediately rushed to the scene at 6.43 pm.

"Some 39 rescue members and two rescue boats were mobilised in the operation to search for the victim," he said in a statement to the media here, Wednesday.
