GEORGE TOWN: Two tracker dogs have been deployed to locate four missing victims feared to be still trapped under the rubble at the site of a collapsed logistics warehouse in Batu Maung, Bayan Lepas last night.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Khairy Sulaiman said the tracker dogs would only be allowed to enter the area of the rubble after it was confirmed to be safe.

"Based on information received from the contractor and developer, the trapped victims are said to be in close proximity to one another, a distance of a few metres between them.

"This is based on the fact that the workers were in the middle of their work, laying beams before the collapse. The area in question is only the size of a basketball court," he said when met at the scene today.

The incident has claimed the lives of three Bangladeshi workers so far, while two others were injured and four still trapped.

The search and rescue (SAR) operation is still ongoing with cooperation from other agencies including the police and Malaysian Civil Defence Force.
