The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has formed a technical committee to identify the cause of the bridge near the Selangor 2 Science Park collapsed today.

An agreement was also reached with the North-South Expressway (PLUS) to appoint an independent negotiator to investigate the damages of the bridge.

“We are taking a more proactive action to carry out the cleaning work, followed by extensive repair work that we expect would take eight months," he said.

PKNS general manager, Othman Omar, said his team will be carrying out the repairs the area immediately.

Meanwhile, Othman also advised motorists to seek other alternatives for the time being.

In the incident, the bridge that fell onto a part of a PLUS highway has been closed since November last year due to soil problems.

The incident however did not result in any casualties.

The construction of the bridge began in October 2007 and it started operations in November 2009.
