A pregnant woman was killed when the car she was in collided with a lorry at the Jalan Masai Baru traffic light junction near, Monday.

Johor Baharu Selatan district police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said during the accident, Noor Hayati Che Aziz, 30, was with her husband Mohd Faizal Rosli, 31, and their two children Muhamad Farhan Danial, six, and Noor Fazliyana Dania, five,

The victim's brother Nasarudin Che Aziz, 20, sustained serious injuries in the accident, which occurred at about 4 pm.

"An initial police investigation revealed that the black Perona car (driven by Mohd Faizal) was coming from the exit of the Big Aeon supermarket towards taman Johor Jaya when it collided with the lorry which was heading towards the city from the Pasir Gudang highway.

"As a result of the collision, the car was towed about 20 metres from the scene of the accident," he said via the short message service (SMS) here.

He said Noor Hayati, who was seven months' pregnant, died in the Sultan Ismail Hospital while her brother was still in the emergency ward.

Police was still tracing the lorry driver, who had fled the scene, he said.
