The police have introduced the customer satisfaction survey system (STKP) short-messaging service (SMS) to determine how the public rate the force.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the public could give a service rating of one (very satisfactory), two (satisfactory), three (less satisfactory) and four (not satisfactory) for all police stations and contingents.

He said the police, via the system, could identify its shortcomings, especially at the counter service.

"For example, police personnel taking down reports must treat the public in a friendly and sympathetic manner, and not be high-handed. So, if the society is unhappy with the service, they can evaluate and the force could improve on it," he added.

Ismail said this at a press conference after launching the STKP SMS at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here Thursday.
