Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman said today he has instructed the state police to make every preparation for the next state election, due by June 2016.

He said he had asked for the preparation in terms of the numerical strength of the officers and personnel, logistics and finance at district and station levels.

“The officers and personnel should also equip themselves with adequate knowledge of an election. They must be given inputs on how to address situations during an election," he said at the monthly assembly of the Sarawak Police here.

Muhammad Sabtu said he would want to see an incident-free election.

He also said that the overall crime index for Sarawak had dropped by 915 cases or 13.45 per cent during the period from January to Oct 19, 2015, compared to the corresponding period last year.

Violent crime saw a drop by 116 cases or 14.83 per cent while property crime dropped by 799 cases or 13.27 per cent, he added.
