Penang police said a special team will be set up to to thoroughly investigate an Indonesian woman's claim that she was forced to have sex with three policemen at a police station in Perai on Friday.

State CID chief, SAC Mazlan Kesah said the Indonesian government need not worry as it would be a thorough and fair investigation, without protecting those detained even though they were policemen.

He told Bernama that the three policemen from the Perai station were being remanded until Nov 16 to facilitate the investigaton under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.

The three suspects aged 20 to 30 were arrested at 7pm on Friday, four hours after the woman lodged a police report on the rape incident which allegedly happened that morning.

"Once the investigation is complete, we will send the report to the deputy public prosecutor for further action."

The victim, Siti Maemanah Kasman, 25, who works at a restaurant here, claimed she was forced to have sex with three policemen who had earlier arrested her at a flat in Perai on Thursday morning before she was taken to a police station nearby.

She said she felt depressed after the incident and hoped that appropriate action would be taken against the three policemen involved.
