The first day blues of school session for pupils of SK Kubang Kerian 3 here turned into cheerful hues on Sunday with the appearance of two popular characters of the famous movie 'Star Wars'.

'Darth Vader' and a 'Stormtrooper' caught the attention of 1,360 students, especially the 252 Year One pupils who began their school session today.

SK Kubang Kerian 3 headmaster, Seri Dewi Mohd Ibrahim said the idea to bring the two characters was mooted during a school meeting held at a hotel here.

"At that time, the hotel was holding a ceremony to celebrate their customers by bringing various animated characters to the hotel. The school management found the idea interesting decided to bring two 'Star Wars' characters on the first day of the school term as it has science-based learning values in the 21st century," she told Bernama here.

Earlier, the high performance school received a visit from Kelantan State Education Department director Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdullah.

Seri Dewi said the school had adopted the principle of learning with entertainment to enable pupils to better understand each subject taught by teachers.

'Star Wars' tells the story about the fight against the evil with its latest series 'The Force Awakens' released on Dec 17, last year.
