GUA MUSANG: The Public Works Ministry (KKR) has assured that there will be no disruption of traffic flow on expressways due to road works, including on the Central Spine Road (CSR), ahead of polling day for the six state elections, which is Aug 12.

Its deputy minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said this is in anticipation of the increase in the volume of vehicles using the expressway from August 11 with voters returning to their home state to exercise their right.

All works, including construction work on the CSR will be stopped to avoid traffic disruption at least a week before the polling day, he told reporters after inspecting the CSR project at Kilometre 251 (FT008) near the Felda Chiku 3 bridge here yesterday.

Abdul Rahman said construction of the CSR project, stretching 360 kilometres, is closely monitored by the ministry and is progressing smoothly.

In another development, he said there will be some traffic disruption for two days in the Felda Chiku area up to Paloh (FT008) on Aug 1 and 2 due to the installation of five new bridge beams across Sungai Chiku for the CSP Project Package 2 Sungai Lakit Bridge to Gua Musang, Section 2B: Paloh 2 to Bukit Sejuk.

As an alternative, motorists can use Jalan Felda Aring for the route from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur, he added.

Abdul Rahman said the CSR package is built for the benefit of the people in the east coast, especially those travelling from Kota Bharu, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang to Lipis, Raub and Bentong.

"We are actually targeting completion by early 2026, which involves all packages from Kota Bharu to the intersection of the Karak Kuala Lumpur highway or the East Coast Highway (LPT) in Bentong," he added.
