The strong wind and choppy seas in the waters of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, East Johor, Sabah, Labuan and Sarawak are expected to continue until Saturday.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement on Tuesday that the strong north-westerly winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour (kph) and waves of up to 3.5 metres high would be dangerous for small boats, as well as sea recreational and sporting activities.

The statement also said that strong Category One north-easterly winds occurring in the waters of Samui, Tioman, Condore, Bunguran, Reef South, Reef North, Layang-layang, Palawan and Sulu were also expected to persist until Saturday.

Thunder storms occurring in the waters of Sarawak (Rejang, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri), the Federal Territory of Labuan and Sabah (the Interior, West Coast, Kudat and Sandakan), Reef South, Reef North, Layang-layang and Sulu were also expected to continue until noon.

The situation can lead to strong winds of up to 50kph and choppy seas with waves of up to 3.5 metres high and hazardous for small boats.
