NIBONG TEBAL:“Where is Aisy... where is Aisy? Aisy is gone ... please forgive daddy, Aisy,” these heart-breaking words were constantly repeated by grieving Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) footballer Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad, 25, whose infant son was killed in an accident along the North-South Expressway this morning.

Muhammad Syafiq has been waiting at the compound of the Sungai Bakap Hospital (HSB)’s Forensic Unit for the results of post-mortem on his 22-day-old son Muhammad Aisy Saqeef and his mother-in-law Zainab Wahab, 45, who were killed in the accident.

The heart-breaking scene was shared by Syafiq’s younger brother, Muhammad Zulfadhli, 24, who has been at his brother’s side all the time.

“He is still in shock and has difficulties in coming to terms with what happened. He weeps each time he is approached by family members and friends. He refused to speak to anyone who called him on the phone. He is just devastated,” Muhammad Zulfadhli said.

Meanwhile, it was equally heart-breaking, if not more, to see Muhammad Syafiq’s wife, Nur Amalina Nur Ain, 25, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, given the opportunity to kiss her newborn son for the last time.

The remains of Muhammad Aisy Saqeef and Zainab were on the way home for burial in Pendang, Kedah, stopping at the Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) to give Nur Amalina, who was treated at the hospital for serious injuries, a chance to see her son and mother for the last time.

Injured Nur Amalina was wheeled to the HSJ’s Forensic Unit where she was given about 20 minutes to spend time with her son and was seen caressing and stroking him several times. She was also given the opportunity to pay her last respect to her mother Zainab.

In the 5.30 am incident, Muhammad Aisy Saqeef, Zainab and the family’s Indonesian helper Titik Sukamti, 30, were killed in the accident, while Nur Amalina was seriously injured and Muhammad Syafiq and his daughter Aaira Nur Saffiyya, two, sustained minor injuries.

It was believed that the accident occurred when Muhammad Syafiq who was driving a Toyota Vellfire with his family members, lost control of the vehicle before it skidded and crashed into the guardrail as he was trying to evade an animal crossing the highway at Sungai Bakap here.

Meanwhile, in PENDANG, the remains of Muhammad Aisy Saqeef and Zainab that left HSB at 3.30 pm finally arrived at Kampung Padang Pusing at 5.55 pm.

They were buried in one grave at Kampung Bukit Murai Muslim Cemetery near here at 8.30 pm.

Also present at the funeral were Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, state Health and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman as well as several Kedah and JDT players.
