Sabah police rescued three foreign women from becoming victims of human trafficking activities and sexual exploitation in Sandakan yesterday evening.

Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Razarudin Husain said the three women aged between 15 and 17 were rescued at a hotel after a raid was carried out on a hotel following information received from the public.

He said police also detained a foreign man aged 18 who was believed to be the caretaker for the women.

"The arrest was made at about 6pm yesterday. We also seized about RM300 in cash from the male suspect. All the women were still being remanded and would be sent to the protection centre," he said.

Razarudin disclosed this to reporters after attending the ceremony to hand over motorcycles at the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters, here today. At the event, Razarudin received 39 units of motorcycles from the Bukit Aman Director of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement, Datuk Mahamad (rpt Mahamad) Akhir Darus.

The motorcycles would be distributed to all the District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Sabah for use by the traffic police and the Criminal Investigation Department.
