The Chairman of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina, (SJKC) Nan Ya, Pang Ah Ngang, 72, and its headmaster, Chiew Swee Tuan on Friday made an open apology to the Chinese Muslim teacher who was told to remove her head scarf or ‘tudung’.

The apology was made at the Kampung Johor Lama Hall witnessed by the teacher involved, Choi Yi Shan, 25, who was still keeping her Muslim name a secret.

In attendance were Kota Tinggi District Education Deputy Officer, Mohamad Fadil Ishak, Kota Tinggi District Chief of Police, Superintendent Rahmat Othman and Johor Lama village chief, Mohd. Nazri Kasmin.

Meanwhile, Bernama had reported that the people of Teluk Sengat has considered the issue closed following the apology made.
