Police have detained two men in connection with the murder of a man near his house in Taman Puteri Gunung, Tasik Mutiara here last night.

Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the suspects, aged 21 and 35, were picked up early this morning at a house near the scene of the incident where M. Parttippan was shot dead.

He said a torched Perodua Myvi, believed to have been used by the killers during the murder, was found about 5km from the scene of the crime.

"Initial investigations revealed that the car was stolen in Seberang Jaya on Monday," he said when contacted here today.

In the incident about 9pm, Parttippan, 29, was confronted by two men in a Myvi who shot him six times, one of which struck the victim in the abdomen, killing him on the spot.

About five months ago, Parttippan was injured when two men fired shots in his direction.
