Two vehicles were trapped in a flash flood in Jalan Semantan, here, due to heavy rain since 4pm today.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Azizan Ismail said five firemen were rushed to the scene after the department received a call at 4.53pm.

"However, they had to walk to the scene as the fire engine could not enter the flooded area because of traffic congestion," he told Bernama when contacted here, today.

He said the firemen found two vehicles trapped in the floodwaters but they were empty.

He said preliminary investigations found the drain in the area was clogged, believed to be due to construction work nearby.

Azizan said the next move would be for the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to tow the vehicles away.

Meanwhile, a police traffic spokesman said traffic movement in the area was slow until 6.30pm.
