Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has yet to submit an application to form a new political party to the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

The former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who is also Dr Mahathir's son, said "a lot of things have to be figured out first" before submitting the application to the RoS.

"We wait and see first. If our other colleagues agree, Tun Mahathir will personally send the form to RoS soon.

"In this regard, we urge RoS to give appropriate consideration," he told reporters after attending a get-together with Dr Mahathir at Perdana Leadership Foundation organised by Che Det Club Malaysia.

Prior to this, Dr Mahathir announced that he would set up a new political party to face the coming 14th general election.

Asked on discussion with other opposition parties and non-government organisations (on the new party), Mukhriz said: "Good response and all in high spirit in supporting the new party."
