After several local football personalities fell victim to the Article 88, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has agreed to review the ruling during their Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday.

FAM will hold a second discussion with members of the governing body's executive council next week to seek a consensus to bring the matter at FAM 49th Congress meeting in August.

Only FAM Congress has the power to formulate or renew the contents of Article 88.

"Firstly, if there is any doubt or if there is any wrong assessment, read and understand the meaning of Article 88. Details can be discussed later after the meeting next week," said FAM vice-president Datuk Afendi Hamzah.

The statute of Article 88 garnered public attention, including FAM deputy president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who wanted it to be reviewed.

It is to ensure the rules in accordance to current situations.

Johor Football Association president, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim became the latest victim of Article 88 and was suspended for 6 months last March, after criticising the referees in the M-League .
