The extension of the contract for the organisation of the Formula One (F1) race at the Sepang Circuit here is expected to be known tomorrow, said Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chairman Tan Sri Mokhzani Tun Dr Mahathir.

Mokhzani said SIC was still awaiting an explanation from the Formula One Management (FOM) on another issue which still needed mutual understanding.

"The contract is still being discussed, we need to discuss one more issue. We will announce tomorrow or latest by next week.

"The issue is not that big, they (FOM) placed a one line (condition) in the contract, so we want confirmation whose responsibility? Us (SIC) or them (FOM)," he told reporters when met at the SIC media centre at the Sepang Circuit, today.

Mokhzani said SIC had proposed that the contract of the prestigious race be extended for three years.

Malaysia has been organising F1 races since 1999.

"Our proposal is to extend the organisation of FI is three years. For me, this is a win-win situation solution.

In another development, Mokhzani said the F1 this time was more interesting with a carnival suitable for families which had boosted the sale of Formula 1 tickets for this season.

"The response is good, in terms of ticket sales, it is almost like last year. This year, when we announced Kpop and Girl generation performances, the ticket sales surged.

"Yesterday, 15,000 spectators came to see the training session compared to only 6,000 the same time last year. This time we holding a carnival suitable for families with a ferris wheel, haunted house, bumper cars," he added.
