The 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games (KL2017) Torch Run arrived at Dewan Merdeka Parit Buntar at 10.40 am today led by Sungai Acheh State Assemblyman Datuk Mahmud Zakaria.

The arrival of Mahmud marked the start of the Perak leg of the SEA Games Torch Run. The assemblyman from Penang state was accompanied by about 100 runners.

After arrival, Mahmud handed over the torch to Perak State Exco for Youth, Sports and Human Resource, Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya.

The Torch Run will cover the districts of Bagan Serai, Kerian, Larut Matang Selama, Bagan Datuk, Batang Padang, Kuala Kangsar, Lenggong and Gerik.

Shahrul Zaman said each district will start the Torch Run tomorrow involving 29 runners who will cover between three to five kilometres daily.

"The Torch Run will end at Tasik Banding, Gerik on July 12 where the torch will be handed over to a representative of the Kelantan state government," he added.

Perak is the tenth state covered by the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games Torch Run.
