Terengganu emerged as the overall champion in the National Junior Track Cycling Championships which ended in Cheras, Sunday, after winning six gold, five silver and two bronze medals.

The four-day championships which started on Nov 28 saw Terengganu cyclists dominate four categories, namely elite men and women, Under-15 men's and women's and men's Under-18.

Terengganun cycling coach Syed Mohd Hussaini Syed Mazlan who was pleased with the performance of his riders said the team would also compete in the SportExcel Junior championship in Rompin, Pahang from Dec 6-8 and the Indonesian Grand Prix (GP) in Jawa Tengah from Dec 11-16.

"If they (riders) can continue to perform like yesterday, I am confident we can achieve good results in both the meets," he told Bernama, here today.

Among riders who excelled in the championships were Mohd Badrul Hakimi Hamid, Che Ku Samir Che Ku Ramli, Nor Aiman Zarif and Nor Elia Mansor.
