The luxury carmaker will be launching two new handbag lines as part of its spring season capsule collection.

When your company is one of the world's leading authorities on bespoke leatherwork and hide selection and matching, it's criminal to use those skills purely for fitting out the cabins of luxury cars.

Therefore in a rather altruistic gesture, Bentley is bringing its skillset, color palates and design philosophy to a new capsule collection of women's handbags.

The Continental bag and the Barnato bag will be the stars of the Bentley Spring Collection, which will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 4, alongside its latest cars. And as well as matching design, the price tags are also decidedly similar.

The smaller of the two bags, the Barnato is inspired by aviator and Bentley driver Diane Barnato and will retail for £4,800 ($7,000 or €5,500), while the Continental -- inspired by the brand's legendary racing and grand touring cars of the early-to-mid 20th century -- is slightly longer in form and will cost £3,800 ($5,500 or €4,500).

Both handbags are available in a selection of vivid or delicate leather color palettes and boast interiors as exquisitely detailed as the interior of any Bentley motorcar past or present -- right down to the craftsmanship of the metal clasps, and quilted, diamond stitched liner.

"The colors are strong and exciting. We want to bring accents of daring color into a woman's wardrobe," said Dr Ariane Reinhart, member of the board of Bentley Motors. "The shades emphasize an aspect of the true Bentley personality, which a new generation of female customers can enjoy in their daily lives."

The bags will be available to view and order online and from local Bentley showrooms after they're officially revealed in Geneva.
