Rising mixed martial arts (MMA) prospect, Nik Harris may seem violent and brutal in the cage but when it comes to women and children, he is all heart.

Although he considers himself dealing in a very brutal sport, the 24-year-old fighter has great respect towards women and children, and feels that they should never ever be a subject of violation.

Speaking to Astro AWANI, Nik said if he were to choose anyone to fight, he would love to fight rapists as well as child and women abusers in the cage.

“If given the chance, I would like to fight with every rapist, every child molester and every wife abuser. I know I deal in a very brutal and violent sport, but I still respect women and children and I believe a woman's innocence should never be violated by a man.

“I think these people should just be sent into a cage with a guy like me for 15 minutes... lock the door and throw away the key,” he said while clenching his right fist.

Nik has six professional fights under his belt with a record of four wins and two losses, and never been knocked out or submitted.

“I don’t have a favourite move in particular, I just hit really, really hard. I consider myself as a freestyle fighter. I’m not like most traditional fighters who are bound to a certain style,” said the fighter also known as 'The Bloodhound'.

Nik also describes himself as a ‘stubborn’ fighter who keeps moving forward even if he loses a lot of blood or his opponent attacks him.

However, despite his enthusiasm in this ‘blood sport’, he wasn’t much of a martial arts enthusiast when he was a child due to his lack of attention span at that time.

“When I was a kid, I never had the attention span to stay in the art that long. It never intrigued me the way I wanted it to, and the reason with MMA is that it’s the closest thing to a real fight,” said Nik who used to work as a club bouncer, and was in the aviation industry before becoming a full-time fighter.

Nik is one of the third generation of locally-produced fighters who was signed by ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) a year ago after they discovered his talent.

Nik was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur where his mother, a Eurasian, hails from Sabah and his father, a Malay from Kelantan.

In ONE FC, he will be facing Indonesian fighter, Zuli Silawanto in a championship dubbed ‘Warrior Spirit’ this November 15 in Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil.
