The Labour Day 2024 global theme is “Social Justice & Decent Work for All” Niaga Spotlight focuses on the calls for government to set a new minimum wage this year to reflect Living Wages, benefits of the Progressive Wage Policy, as well as highlighting the exploitative system faced by government contract workers such as hospital cleaners and security guards.

Trade Unions capacity building is another key area for improving workers bargaining power.
There are also outstanding issues regarding the Sabah and Sarawak’s Labour Ordinance (SLO), impacting wages, workplace conditions and Gender Equality for East Malaysians.
