Hulu Selangor police chief Supt R. Supramaniam said the north-bound trailer laden with earth was believed to have gone out of control before it skidded and landed on the Ssangyong MPV which was heading in the same direction.

"All the six died at the scene in the 7.40am incident. Police are still trying to establish if the victims are related," he told Bernama.

The dead were Lam Leong Choy, 76, Low Wai Loon, 46, Lam Jie Yang, 19, Wong Check Lee, 53, Lam Jie Hong, 13, and Lam Wai Keat, 38.

Supramaniam said all the bodies were brought to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital.

He said the trailer driver was not injured and had been brought the Hulu Selangor police station for urine and blood tests.

He added that the case had been classified as reckless driving resulting in deaths.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations Mohd Sani Harul said they were alerted about the accident at 7.42am and despatched a team of six rescuers from the Kuala Kubu Bharu fire station.

"They took an hour and 15 minutes to extricate the victims from the MPV," he said. --Bernama
