UMNO Sungai Besar Division vice-chief Budiman Mohd Zohdi wants division head Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos to reconsider his decision to step down as division chief and the Parliamentary constituency's Barisan Nasional (BN) chief.

He said Jamal could not arbitrarily let go the posts because he was picked by the delegates and should fulfill the trust placed upon him.

"Unity among the Umno members in the area is at its best and I feel now is not the time for Jamal to quit," said Budiman who is also Sungai Besar Member of Parliament.

Budiman also urged Selangor Umno Liaison chief Tan Sri Noh Omar to act wisely towards Jamal's application.

"This is in addition to the general election which is expected this year..so, I hope Jamal and Noh can make an apt decision on the matter," said Budiman at a media conference after launching the Sungai Besar Kini newspaper, here Wednesday.

On Monday, Jamal, who is also the Red Movement NGO Coalition Malaysia (GNGMM) chairman, announced he would step down from all posts in Umno after being freed from a remand order to help investigations on raids at several premises suspected to be carrying out gambling activities around Selangor. - Bernama
