Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin performed special ‘solat hajat’ prayers together with 1,000 others at a mosque here, to seek divine intervention for the floods that have hit several states to fully subside.
The prayers were led by Imam Mohd Anuar Khazizi and was held after Friday prayers at the Al Makmur Mosque, Batu 10 Camp, here.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar also attended the prayers.
The prayers were conducted following calls by Pahang mufti, Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Rahman Osman, urging all mosques in the state to hold ‘solat hajat’ prayers today.
Muhyiddin later went to the Wisma Negeri building for a briefing on the flood situation in Pahang. As at 3 pm, 35,736 people had been evacuated in the state due to the floods.
In SARAWAK, many mosques in the state held the 'solat hajat' prayers.
The ‘solat hajat’ prayers at the Jamek Mosque in Petra Jaya was held after Friday prayers and led by the state’s mufti Datuk Jojo Suhaili.
In TERENGGANU, the 'solat hajat' prayers were held at the Abidin Mosque, also known as the White Mosque, and the Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque, Ladang.
Some 500 people took part in the prayers at Abidin Mosque led by Terengganu mufti Aizi Saidi Abdul Aziz.
1,500 people meanwhile attended the prayers held at the Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque led by Ustaz Mohd Bukhari Muhammad.
In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, attended the 'solat hajat' prayers together with 1,000 others at the State Mosque in Seremban.
The 'solat hajat' prayers, led by Imam Zaherruddin Mokhtar, were held after the Friday prayers.
Tuanku Muhriz's sons, the Tunku Besar of Seri Menanti, Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz and Tunku Zain Al'Abidin Tuanku Muhriz, also attended the prayers.
