McLaren Automotive Asia Pte Ltd is eyeing a 30 percent share of its global sales from Asia this year.

Its Asia-Pacific Sales and Operations Head, George Biggs, said last year, of the total vehicles produced of 1,400, Asian sales accounted for 20 percent.

"The strong Asian interest of McLaren indicates passion and enthusiasm of our customers," he told a media briefing after unveiling the McLaren 650S here today.

The McLaren 650S, dubbed McLaren Automotive's fastest and best-equipped supercar, is for drivers who celebrate life and brings a new level of excitement. It is priced at RM2.4 million.

Biggs said following the success of McLaren 12C and McLaren P1 here, the company was excited to bring in a new pinnacle in high-end luxury supercar offerings.

"Since launching McLaren in Malaysia last year, we have been impressed with the eagerness our customers have demonstrated for the brand and our products," he said.

He said there were a lot of market potentials here and looked forward to bring in more products to Malaysia.

McLaren Automotive is a British manufacturer of luxury, high-performance sports car, located at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey.

McLaren Kuala Lumpur, owned and operated by Sime Darby Auto Britannia, is the sole distributor of the sports car in Malaysia.
