Petronas has renewed its support for the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations' (Fomca) annual Consumerism Competitions organised in conjunction with Malaysia Consumer Day celebration.

The Consumerism Competitions, organised since 2002, is a six-month long programme for the public, targeting especially school children and school consumer clubs, to create awareness on consumer rights and education.

"Fomca will receive a total of RM500,000 out of which RM100,000 will be paid annually starting from 2014 to 2018," Petronas said in a statement today.

"This collaboration supports Fomca's efforts in consumer education and is line with Petronas' own community programmes which aim to instill positive values and inspire Malaysians to become responsible citizens," it added.

Since 2009, Petronas has been supporting various programmes by Fomca in consumer education including its National Consumerism Campaign (2009 to 2010) and Malaysia Consumer Day programmes (2011 to 2012).
