Swiss national Xavier Andre Justo gave his fullest cooperation during a 90-minute interview with a three-man Malaysian police team at the Bangkok Remand Prison here.

The interview yesterday went smoothly, with the cooperation of the Thai police, a source told Bernama.

"The police team led by Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Deputy Director (Investigation-Legal) Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh interviewed Justo from 10.15am to 11.45am.

"There was no need for a session in the afternoon and the Malaysian police team returned to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, a day ahead of schedule," said the source today.

The police recorded a statement from Justo in the form of an affidavit and it would be used for investigations in Malaysia, especially with regard to allegations that some of the documents, particularly those in relation to dealings between PetroSaudi International and 1MDB, had been tampered with, added the source.

The Malaysian police may also be interested in the meetings Justo was said to have had with several individuals, including Sarawak Report editor and founder Claire Rewcastle-Brown, and the The Edge Media Group owner Tong Kooi Ong, according to the source.

Justo is serving time for trying to blackmail his former employer, PetroSaudi International using information from the 90 gigabytes of data he had stolen from the company.

He was arrested on June 22 on the island of Koh Samui and sentenced to three years' imprisonment on Aug 17 after confessing to stealing the data, including documents and emails.

Justo was seeking a pardon and might also apply for a parole or a transfer to serve his prison term at a prison in Switzerland, said his lawyer, Worasit Piriyawiboon here.
