In a statement by the university today, the student was among 12 SUTD students who are in Nice to undergo a summer programme. The programme began on July 3.
The statement also said that the student is currently being treated at a local hospital and in stable condition.
News portal, Channel News Asia today reported that SUTD President, Professor Thomas Magnanti said the university has contacted the victim’s family and officials for assistance.

“We are channelling assistance and updating the victim’s status from time to time for the parents.
“The remaining 11 students have been ordered to remain in the hostel and adhere to security orders from French authorities,” Magnanti added.
Meanwhile, Wisma Putra in a statement on Friday said that it has received information a Malaysian student, currently on an exchange programme in France has been injured in what President Francois Hollande has termed 'an attack of an undeniable terrorist nature'.
The Ministry, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris will continue to monitor the situation.
In the incident, a truck ploughed into a crowd in the French resort of Nice Thursday (July 14), leaving at least 84 dead and scores injured in an attack after a Bastille Day fireworks display
The attacker came from the Tunisian town of Msaken which he last visited four years ago, Tunisian security sources said.
Hollande said Friday that around 50 people were in a critical condition "between life and death" after a lorry ploughed into crowds celebrating Bastille Day in Nice.
"As I speak 84 people are dead, and around 50 are in a critical condition between life and death," he said after visiting a hospital in the French Riviera city.
