Three Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) exploded at three separate locations in the troubled southern Thai province of Yala last night but caused no injuries.

All three IEDs exploded at Yaha district, Yala starting with a 7.30pm (local time) incident in front of a goldsmith shop and followed by another incident five minutes later at a stationery shop.

"The third explosion struck a newspaper shop located opposite the Yala Police station several minutes later," a police officer told the local media here, today.

The police also discovered two suspicious-looking objects near the blast area last night and immediately sealed off the location before an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team conducted a controlled explosion on the objects this morning.

According to the police, the first object was cylinder-shaped, weighing about 5kg but gave no details on the other suspicious object.
