Critically acclaimed and a hit with cinema audiences in Australia, Kate Winslet's "The Dressmaker" will be distributed in the US by Amazon Studios.

Winslet plays the designer in question, Tilly Dunnage, who goes back to her small town origins in order to take care of her elderly mother -- and uncover the truth about a murder that led to her expulsion all those years ago.

Based on the debut novel by Australian author Rosalie Ham, and co-starring Judy Davis, Liam Hemsworth, Sarah Snook and Hugo Weaving, the Jocelyn Moorhouse film contains a winning mixture of revenge, romance and comedy; it collected five Australian Academy Awards and five more from the Australian Film Critics Association following a domestic theatrical release in October 2015.

Despite the worldwide rollout that followed, "The Dressmaker" was somehow lacking US distribution -- an absence now intending to be remedied by Amazon Studios who, after agreeing a deal in Cannes, will release it in US theaters this fall.
