CAMILA Cabello has left girl group Fifth Harmony.

The news was announced on Monday by the remaining members of the group in a message posted on their official Twitter page.

Signed "Ally, Normani, Dinah and Lauren," the message informs fans that, "After four and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well."

Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen and Lauren Jauregui, have also confirmed their desire to continue the group as a foursome.

The news comes just after the group announced earlier this month their plans to release a third album.

However Cabello could now be set to work on solo material after already releasing hit track with Shawn Mendes in late 2015 and Machine Gun Kelly, which reached No. 10 on the Hot 100 just last week.

Rumors are also flying that Cabello's departure is a result of tensions within the band, with December 18 marking the end of Cabello's contractual obligations to the group.

The band formed on the second season of the American version of "The X Factor" in 2012, and released their first album "Reflection" in January 2015.
