The first episode of the supernatural series will make its global debut on October 10 in New York.

As well as a special screening at the event giving diehard fans the first glimpse of what to expect from the new six-part mini-series, the premiere will be followed by a Q&A session.

"X-Files" star David Duchovny is expected to make up part of the panel as is the show's creator, Chris Carter.

The original show, which has already spawned two feature films, was one of the biggest hits of the 1990s.

It helped usher in the golden age of television and to prove that film-like budgets were needed in order to bring the best stories, stars and visual effects to the small screen.

After the special screening, the show will be broadcast in the US on the Fox network in January.
