Ron Howard is reportedly set to direct a live-action ‘Pinocchio' movie for Warner Bros., according to The Tracking Board.

Warner Bros. has had a Pinocchio movie in development for a few years with Robert Downey Jr. set to play the role of puppet creator Gepetto.

The project was put on hold several times but now looks set to take off.

While yet to be confirmed, Howard would be replacing Paul Thomas Anderson who was attached to write and direct the film.

Howard and his production partner Brian Grazer and their image banner will work with Dan Jinks of The Dan Jinks Company along with Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey on the film's production.

Meanwhile, last year it was reported that Disney was also working on a movie based on the Pinocchio tale.
