Veteran actor Datuk Zulkifli Zain, 70, who gained popularity through 1981's film 'Sayang Anakku Sayang', is now in stable condition after he suffered a heart attack last Monday.

His wife Datin Normala Omar, 58, said her husband, who was now half-paralysed after suffering from a stroke in January, was resting shortly after undergoing a physiotherapy when had the heart attack.

"He was coughing at first but after checks by a doctor, his body temperature had gone tremendously low and we were told to take him to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) immediately.

"It was at HKL where the doctor confirmed he had a heart attack," she told Bernama during a visit by Persatuan Karyawan Malaysia (Karyawan), here on Thursday.

Also present were Karyawan president Datuk Freddie Fernandez and other veterans including Rozita Rohaizad and S. Rohani.

"We would live with our eldest daughter, Norzizi in Shah Alam as the doctor said he would be discharged soon," said Normala.

When asked by the reporter, Zulkifli said he would continue to fight for and guide his fellow artiste friends whenever they need help.

"I will keep helping them although I am not active in acting anymore," he said.
