Landslides striking Central Java province of western Indonesia have left one person dead, two missing and five injured, China's Xinhua news agency reported an official of the disaster agency as saying.

Heavy downpours were blamed for the disaster in Bulurejo village of Karanganyar district, Risky A, senior official at the provincial disaster management agency said.

"Search for the missing persons is underway now," he told Xinhua via phone from the province.

The rain triggered soils of a 30-metre high hill fell and hit the victims who were working at the slope, Risky added.
