A total of 18 areas, involving 17,500 subscribers, in the federal capital have begun experiencing unscheduled water supply disruption.

They are Jalan Lapangan Terbang Lama (TUDM), Sungai Besi, Chan Sow Lin, Wisma Putra, Bellamy, Kerayung, Jalan San Peng, Dataran FNN, Taman Seputih and Bukit Seputih.

Other areas affected are Jalan Syed Putra, Taman Segar, Pandan Perdana, Pandan Indah, Taman Kencana, Maju Jaya, Lembah Maju and Taman Tayton View.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement here yesterday, said the company would provide latest information on the matter through the media from time to time.

It said the water supply disruption was caused by high water demand which exceeded the supply capacity, hence resulting in the drop in water level at the main ponds which received water supply from the Sungai Langat treatment plant.
