A total of 69 candidates were returned unopposed in the elections today for divisional posts of the three UMNO wings in Pahang.

State UMNO Elections Committee chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Jabbar Ibrahim said the candidates had contested for four main posts in the wings in the 14 divisions in the state.

"They were returned to the post of permanent chairman (21 candidates), deputy permanent chairman (26), head of the wings (12) and vice-head of the wings (10)," he said.

He added, Wanita UMNO saw eight as deputy permanent chairman return unopposed, six candidates d as permanent chairman, and two as head and two as vice-head.

UMNO Youth on the other hand saw four candidates returned unopposed as permanent chairman, five as deputy permanent chairman and two as head.

Puteri Umno saw 11 candidates returned unopposed as permanent chairman, 13 as deputy permanent chairman, eight as head and eight as vice-head, he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Jabbar said that the Puteri wing in the Jerantut UMNO division was facing a three-cornered contest for the post of deputy permanent chairman.

He said he expected the official results of the rest of the contest in the 14 UMNO divisions in Pahang to be known tonight.
