All business premises along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Jalan T.A.R) in the city will be repainted this year in a bid to make the place brighter in order to draw more tourists to the bustling area.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Datuk Seri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said the initiative was being taken in view of Jalan TAR being a "shopping heaven" besides Bukit Bintang.

"We will be issuing notices to the owners of the premises soon, and will choose the colours that we deem are suitable.

"We are looking at pastel colours to the make place more lively and colourful," he told reporters after launching fashion store Gulatis' latest collection here Wednesday.

Mhd Amin said besides the repainting initiative, City Hall was also taking other steps the further enliven the place like upgrading pedestrian walkways and increasing lighting so that the textile hub continued to live up to its reputation.
