Political analysts feels the cooperation between the ruling party and opposition parties gives more importance to the country compared to which involves two parties that represent a single race.

Senior lecturer of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Prof Madya Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin said the cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat is more inclusive than which involves only UMNO and PAS.

He said the cooperation between BN and Pakatan can solve more problems because it represents all races in this country.

“Economic and crime problems which the country is facing now involves all races not just the Malays, so if discussions between BN and Pakatan take place that will solve most problem.”

"If the discussion involves only UMNO and PAS, that will be so exclusive because only Malays and Bumiputera issues will be solved," he said when contacted by Astro AWANI.

Shaharuddin said many ruling party in other countries are in discussions between with the opposition to resolve the country's problems.

He said this when asked to comment on the latest PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang saying that the party was ready to cooperate with UMNO to discuss various issues if they (PAS) were invited.

Shaharuddin said if Abdul Hadi just wants to talk to UMNO alone that will not benefit the country.

On Saturday, Abdul Hadi said PAS was ready to cooperate with UMNO to discuss various issues if PAS was invited.

He said PAS can discuss any issues and history has proven that the leaders of UMNO and PAS can be together on one stage.

He said former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former PAS president the late Datuk Fadzil Noor been together in a forum once upon a time.

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said for the best interests of the Malays and Muslims, UMNO is open to cooperate with PAS.

The UMNO deputy president said the cooperation between the two parties has actually been recommended by many Muslim leaders.

A day after Muhyiddin’s statement, Selangor PAS information chief, Saari Sungib stressed that as long as the moon, stars and the sun exist, the party will not cooperate with UMNO unless their opponent change their policies.

Hulu Kelang Legislative Assembly Member (Assembly), said over the years many of Umno’s policies were cruel which PAS did not agreed became the reason why the desired cooperation was difficult to be implemented.
