KUALA LUMPUR: The national men's hockey team suffered another setback in the tri-nation friendly series after losing 1-3 to Great Britain last night.

The visitors opened the score through a field goal by Rupert Shipperley, in the 35th minute of play.

Just a minute later, a quick counter saw Phil Roper scored another field goal for the away side when he flicked the ball over Malaysian keeper Muhammad Hafizuddin Othman to put Great Britain 2-0 up.

Adam Gibson then made it three for Great Britain when he converted a penalty corner in the 44th minute to put them comfortably ahead.

A. Arul Selvaraj's side did not give up and in the 55th minute they finally got the goal they were looking for when Muhammad Razie Abd Rahim smashed in a penalty corner for the final scoreline.

This was Malaysia's second defeat in the friendly series after losing 3-0 to Japan last Saturday.
