The ashes of two brothers who were found dead with their throats slit at the family home in Taman Wira on Tuesday, were laid to rest today.

The ashes were placed at the Wat Damrongratanaram Buddhist Temple here about 1pm.

A member of the deceased's family brought the ashes to the temple about noon to observe religious rites and prayers following cremation yesterday.

Family members also brought the victims' favourite toys to be placed next to the urn containing the ashes, inside a compartment.

Attempts by members of the media to speak to the deceased's father, Tee Chooi Ping, 36, were futile as a family member prevented them from approaching him.

"Please consider our feelings, because we are very sad, try putting our situation onto yourselves," reasoned a member of the victims' family.

Cong Ming, five, and Cong Shern, three, were found murdered in a room of the house when their grandfather returned from trading.

A close relative of the family has been remanded for seven days, starting Wednesday to facilitate investigations into the killings and is currently undergoing treatment at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital's psychiatric ward here.
